Publisher Description

A forbidden prequel romance to author S.M. West's Trusting the Ex...

I’m screwed.

Pippa just showed up uninvited with plans of staying the weekend.

I can hardly handle an hour with her, let alone two days.

Despite more than a year of dodging her, nothing has changed.

She’s the only woman I want.

Smart and sexy and bold.

My best friend’s little sister.

Forbidden.

Denying my desire for her is torture.

And she doesn’t make it easy; she wants me too.

The thing is, making her mine will destroy my best friend.

Prequel but not a cliffhanger

This book is a prequel, but it's not a cliffhanger. I would have been totally happy ending Pippa and Drew's story here. The epilogue has hints of challenges, but still an HFN. I generally avoid prequels, but this one could stand alone. I've read several of S.M. West's previous books and have been impressed with her work, so I thought I'd try this (and the follow up book) even though they're not my go-to tropes.

I listened to the audiobook. New-to-me Summer Morton and the familiar Stephen Dexter did a great job with their performances. I would recommend listening to the audiobook.

I received a copy of the book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Sweet Prequel Novella

I have recently become a big fan of S.M. West’s writing. I’ve read and loved her romantic suspense Scarred Hearts series. Imagine my delight when I found out she has a rom-com series available in audio! Resisting the Best Friend’s Sister is a charming prequel novella. S.M. West lays the foundation of Pippa and Drew’s forbidden romance. This low-angst, happy for now romance is a lovely tale of pining, unrequited love, and friendship. Pippa Rayne has crushed on her brother’s best friend for years. When Pippa is able to coordinate alone, close proximity time with Drew, will he resist her or finally give in to their attraction? I enjoyed this quirky, steamy, HFN, love story. I can’t wait to complete the duet soon.

Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter give delightful performances as Pippa and Drew. Stephen is a 1-click narrator for me. He portrays Drew’s upstanding, chivalrous, cinnamon roll personality to life with an outstanding narration. His low, growly timbre is always a treat for the ears; his pacing and various character voices are perfect. I haven’t listened to many Summer Morton narrations, but I thoroughly enjoyed her performance! She brings young Pippa to life with an ebullient, coquettish, delightful narration. Summer and Stephen are well-suited in pacing and style. This whirlwind romance flowed beautifully. I can’t wait to listen to more of Stephen and Summer in Trusting the Ex!

Short but so full of yummy goodness

The way that Drew loved Pippa from afar was so heart-melting. And his ability to stay away for so long was friggin admirable. The way his heart yearned for her made my heart break a little when he fought so hard against it. Pippa on the other hand, she had no reservations. I loved her willingness & tenacity to go after what she wanted and what she knew he wanted. And when she got it…wow!! These two together were more than I expected in this short read.
My feelings toward Finn are torn. I understand his reservations of his best friend & his sister, but I just wanted to bop him over the head.
Can’t wait for the next installment to this series, although, I know it’s going to break me a little.

Audiobook Review:
You can never go wrong with Stephen Dexter. There’s just something in his voice that melts you into the story. Him being joined by Summer Morton was a force to be reckoned with. I think this is my first listen by Summer, but her narration was spectacular.
