*NOW A NETFLIX FILM STARRING MILA KUNIS*

Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will thrill at this “perfect page-turner” (People)—that Reese Witherspoon describes as “one of those reads you just can’t put down!” This “dark, twisty” (Entertainment Weekly), instant New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling novel follows an unforgettable young woman striving to create the perfect life—until a violent incident from her past threatens to unravel everything and expose her most shocking secret.

HER PERFECT LIFE IS A PERFECT LIE

As a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School, Ani FaNelli endured a shocking, public humiliation that left her desperate to reinvent herself. Now, with a glamorous job, expensive wardrobe, and handsome blue blood fiancé, she’s this close to living the perfect life she’s worked so hard to achieve.

But Ani has a secret.

There’s something else buried in her past that still haunts her, something private and painful that threatens to bubble to the surface and destroy everything.

With a singular voice and twists you won’t see coming, Luckiest Girl Alive explores the unbearable pressure that so many women feel to “have it all” and introduces a heroine whose sharp edges and cutthroat ambition have been protecting a scandalous truth, and a heart that's bigger than it first appears.

The question remains: will breaking her silence destroy all that she has worked for—or, will it at long last, set Ani free?

Kept me listening

The 11.5 hours this takes to listen to goes quickly. I didn’t immediately like the voice narrating the story from the sample, but was pleased that she was good on the whole. I finished this in only a few days but was intending to stretch it out much longer. So it definitely kept me wanting to know more.

I liked the story and the author skillfully switches between the present aqnd flashbacks. I think the comparisons to Gone Girl may set some unfair expectations. Gone Girl drops a huge bomb in the middle and this story doesn’t have that kind of twist. I kept waiting for it, but it doesn’t have it. It has surprises and suspense, but you will probably enjoy it more if you enjoy it on its own merits.

The main character is not always easy to like, but I found I could understand her better by the end. The comments about the language not being suitable for young kids are true, but it isn’t a story for kids. It has some pretty intense violence, occasional profanity, and some sexually explicit stuff. I might want my daughter to stay away from it just because I wouldn’t want her to think that starving herself and living up to the standards the main character sets for herself are good ideas.

So overall I liked this. It would be great to pass the time at the gym or a long car ride. Probably could be enlightening for men to glance into the world the main character lives in too.

Luckiest Girl ALive

I'm so puzzled by the glowing reviews; however, I didn't finish the book due to graphic sexual language in the first few minutes while listening with my 13 yr old grand daughter in the car. I wish there was a warning for language and graphic sex before wasting money on a book!

I wanted to listen to it all over again

I actually sat in my car and listened to this book for 30 extra minutes after driving 7 straight hours. I actually looked forward to the 7 hour drive back so that I could continue it. Great book, lots of intrigue, twists, and turns.
