Why?
This is not a diary in the traditional sense of the word. It’s really not a journal or a stream of consciousness. It’s a laundry or shopping list of thoughts. I don’t think that Mr. Rickman intended for this to be published, at most I think they were a gathering of thoughts that he would have used in his old age to write an autobiography. Unfortunately, very sadly he didn’t get to become an old man. I feel as though I have invaded his privacy by reading this book. It would have been better if Ms. Horton had shared his jottings with a writer who would have written a competent biography based upon the information contained.
A book that celebrates the life of the person and not something that leaves you feeling sadder.
