Mere Christianity is C. S. Lewis’ forceful and accessible doctrine on Christian belief. First heard as informal radio broadcasts and then published as three separate books—The Case for Christianity, Christian Behavior, and Beyond Personality—Mere Christianity brings together what Lewis sees as the fundamental truths of his religion.
Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity’s many denominations, C. S. Lewis finds a common ground on which all those who have Christian faith can stand together, proving that “at the center of each there is something, or a Someone, who against all divergences of belief, all differences of temperament, all memories of mutual persecution, speaks with the same voice.”
Don't give up your faith until you read this book.
I believe that I’m stating something that most Christians would agree on when I say that churches of all shapes and sizes can lose the focus of what Christianity is at its heart. Personally I was ready to give up on Christianity because of all the things that are added by different denominations. God has a much simpler life in store for us. I don’t think this book would help an Atheist but I do think it will help you if you are a Christian and starting to feel that religion as a whole is quite unsatisfactory. While I’m still not a fan of church my faith has been restored.
In this book, Lewis PROVES that there is a true standard of right and wrong
No where in all of my readings have I ever seen proof that there really is a standard for right and
wrong. In the first third of this book, before he mentions Christianity at all, he addresses the
fact that there is an absolute standard of morality, and proves that it has been given to us.
His logic is mind-blowing, but gentle, reasonable and, at times, humorous. And......very respectful.
I think it's in the top strata of essential reading for every thinking person.....this should be in the hands
of every student on earth, no matter what his religion or non-religion.
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
I highly commend this book and wish that I could overly emphasize the importance of this great work by Mr. Lewis. After one is Biblically induced, this book is the second most important in the Christian walk. This recording is of superb quality and the language easily understood. This book would be especially great for those whom are not Christian to better understand the Christian and his view of the world, and would equip the non-Christian for the problems facing them in everday life and struggles and how to better handle those situations. For the Christian it is a "mind" opener as it introduces him/her to the concept of God and His plan for the world and His people. It makes identification with Jesus Christ more personal and more deep in the walk of the Christian and his/her struggles in a world influenced by the enemy. A great book and a great read that you will revisit often. I love C.S. Lewis, the man was a great intellect with no earthly counterpart. Two more that I would commend but are not available yet on iTunes, is The Inklings and C.S. Lewis answers questions from children.
