Concise Compendium of Mesopotamian Mythology

This is a concise collection of mythology, retold in slightly simplified form. Works well as a a general overview of Mesopotamian myths, but lacks any interpretive essays to explain the symbolism or deeper cultural significance of certain details that might seem puzzling to a modern reader. The stories are well selected though, and cover a wide range of myths in a fairly short amount of time. Some of the more repetitive section are summarized or shortened to make the stories flow better.

The narration is dry, but clear and articulate.
