Publisher Description
Everyday life is so frantic and full of troubles that we have largely forgotten how to live a joyful existence. We try so hard to be happy that we often end up missing the most important parts of our lives. In Mindfulness, Oxford professor Mark Williams and award-winning journalist Danny Penman reveal the secrets to living a happier and less anxious, stressful, and exhausting life.
Based on the techniques of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, the unique program developed by Williams and his colleagues, the book offers simple and straightforward forms of mindfulness meditation that can be done by anyone—and it can take just 10 to 20 minutes a day for the full benefits to be revealed.

VERY abbreviated MBCT
This abridgement is an extraordinary distillation of the Williams-Penman book, which itself is a summary of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) for a general readership. Like the Cliffs Notes summary of a Tolstoy novel, it surveys in the broadest strokes the main MBCT ideas and practices. The ideas are recapped in an hour, the full practices from the book presented in another hour, and an 8-week curriculum suggested in 20 minutes. For me this audiobook was extremely helpful as a quick refresher for the clinical 8-week course I took years ago. It could possibly be helpful for those new yet curious about MBCT. It is by no means a substitute for the full book or the teacher-led course. But like any Cliffs Notes, it can hit a sweet spot depending on your needs.
