Publisher Description

‘Call me Ishmael’ Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write ‘a mighty book about a mighty theme’ and so he did. It is a story of one man’s obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of the Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history and a mass of information about whaling through the ages. This epic story, here presented in unabridged form, receives an equally epic reading from the outstanding American actor William Hootkins.

Loved this Narration to the MOON’

This was the greatest possible narration. Absolutely worth every extra dollar. I listened multiple times and gave as a gift to my closest associate. As a trial attorney for over 40 years there is such a wealth of great quotes that I will owe a % of my success going forward to the lines I share with my juries. Can’t possibly get a better audio presentation anywhere. Cheers!

Worth every penny!

I had initially bought the one by Recorded Audio because it showed the most reviews with the most stars.

However, after listening to that version for some ten minutes or so, I deleted it. I thought I would contract a novel form of infectious asthma if I kept listening. The reader kept sucking in his breath at the beginning of every sentence in the manner of a phony evangelist. It was absolutely terrible! I certainly don’t grok all those reviews with all those stars. But, hey, to each his own.

This reading, on the other hand, is sheer ineffable masterpiece of elocution.

Whereas the Recorded Audio version sucked the life out of the story and out of the listener, this version breathes life into the reading and transforms the story into pure music for the ears and soul of the listener.

This version is worth every penny. Buy it!
