Publisher Description

Now a major motion picture, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin and starring Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, and Michael Cera—the true story of "Hollywood’s poker princess" who gambled everything, won big, then lost it all.

Molly Bloom reveals how she built one of the most exclusive, high-stakes underground poker games in the world—an insider’s story of excess and danger, glamour and greed.

In the late 2000s, Molly Bloom, a twentysomething petite brunette from Loveland Colorado, ran the highest stakes, most exclusive poker game Hollywood had ever seen—she was its mistress, its lion tamer, its agent, and its oxygen. Everyone wanted in, few were invited to play.

Hundreds of millions of dollars were won and lost at her table. Molly’s game became the game for those in the know—celebrities, business moguls, and millionaires. Molly staged her games in palatial suites with beautiful views and exquisite amenities. She flew privately, dined at exclusive restaurants, hobnobbed with the heads of Hollywood studios, was courted by handsome leading men, and was privy to the world’s most delicious gossip, until it all came crashing down around her.

Molly’s Game is a behind the scenes look at Molly’s game, the life she created, the life she lost, and what she learned in the process.

An engrossing and impressive read

I was very impressed by this book. Molly Bloom had an amazing story to tell. Yes, she named some celebrities who had already been named by another party. She was willing to face a potential prison sentence to protect the names of other celebrities who had not already been named by someone else. This book is not about the outing of certain celebrities. Mollys story involves a myriad of incidents and scenarios that depict her strengths, vulnerabilities, determination, and triumph over significant events and obstacles. I thoroughly enjoyed this very engaging and candid book.

Terrible audiobook riddled with slander

Molly Bloom was a failed Olympian who so-happened to have met various stars (with talent) such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Ben Affleck. She twists her experiences with them to a dramatic effect in order to latch on to their coattails in a struggling attempt to remain relevant. This book might have been decent if it weren’t for her direct naming of the celebrities she claims to have interacted with.

What was especially disgusting was her inaccurate portrayal of Tobey Maguire whom she described as being a terrible person when the hundreds of cast members who worked with him profess otherwise. He was the easiest target as he avoids the paparazzi and consequently would not be able to defend himself. Unfortunately, people love to latch on to shocking stories and many have accepted her depiction of Tobey wholeheartedly. You may have partially succeeded Molly, but you will never have an ounce of the talent that Tobey Maguire possesses.

0/5 stars if I could
