Standing on the cliffs of 12th-century Ireland following the disappearance of his twin, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is visited by the goddess Morrigan and is charged with the ultimate of tasks: saving his and all future worlds.
His enemy, the beautiful but deadly vampire queen Lilith, has had over 2,000 years of experience in cruelly killing and changing humans into one of her own - including Hoyt's brother, Cian.
Now, Hoyt, a sorcerer, must travel across the world and through time to find and train the five others Morrigan has prophesized will join him as a circle and do battle against Lilith's army of vampires on Samhain in the land of Geall.
But just who is the witch, the shape-changer, the scholar, the warrior and the vampire? How will this unlikely band of six prepare and become one with less than three months until the possible end of the world?
Following the arrival of Glenna Ward - a modern day witch with a knack for making her own kind of magic, the kind that makes his heart melt - Hoyt must find the strength to save the world, and a love that knows no bounds.

Morrigan's Cross would make a great Movie!
I was intrigued by Morrigan's Cross and can't wait to listen to the sequels. I loved the book so much that I ordered the boxed set version of the trilogy. Hoyt, a 12th century Irish sorcerer, travels to the 21st century to recruit his brother, Cian, as a soldier in the Vampire
War. The plot is full of magic, adventure and romance. My only complaint with the audiobook is the irritating voice used by the narrator to depict the female characters. The plot was so interesting that I was able to ignore it. Even though it is a story with male principal characters, I consider Nora Roberts to be a writer for women. I think a woman's voice would have been much better for the audiobook.
Outstanding book draws you into this Trilogy quickly and completely--I enjoyed the second book, Dance of the Gods, but the Third book, Valley of Silence really sealed the deal--don't miss that one. Superb! Agree that I am not a fan of the female character voices from this reader BUT his male characters are so exquisitely done and sexy that I can live with the female portrayals. Outstandingly acted by the reader. Have always preferred science fiction over fantasy, but this book hooked me and I am delighted I tried it!
I am a big Nora Roberts fan and have read most of her books. I listen to a fair number of audiobooks but this is one of the few of hers I have listened to. I was very disappointed. The narrator was not very good at reading the female characters which ultimately made it impossible to listen to.
