Publisher Description

Neil Young talks with Fresh Air host Terry Gross about his latest project, a musical novel. As well, there is a DVD, Inside Greendale, which includes in-studio footage of the band and scenes from the film. Over the years, Young has made excursions into country, blues, electro, rockabilly, and soul. Early in his career, he formed the Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills. He was then part of Crosby Stills Nash and Young, which eventually morphed into Crosby, Stills and Nash when Young embarked on a solo career. (Broadcast Date: March 30, 2004)

Neil in his own words

Here's another great interview of Neil Young by Terry Gross. Neil, as always, is original and singularly himself in this overview of his story-album, "Greendale". Neil sounds as familiar as the egg man down the street, but with the sensibilities of the great North American poet laureate that he is. I always listen to Neil Young music or interviews with baited breath hunting for subtle clues of how this contemporary genius artfully views our collective life experience. You can almost hear the well- worn creative wheels grinding effortlessly as Neil responds to Terry’s gently probing questions. Neil and Terry together (or separately for that matter) never disappoint the listener, and this interview is no exception to that rule. Fans of either will enjoy this interview of a consummate rock icon.
