Publisher Description
Lucas Davenport tracks a prolific serial killer in this nail-biting #1 New York Times-bestseller from John Sandford.
Clayton Deese looks like a small-time criminal, muscle for hire when his loan shark boss needs to teach someone a lesson. Now, seven months after a job that went south and landed him in jail, Deese has skipped out on bail, and the U.S. Marshals come looking for him. They don't much care about a low-level guy--it's his boss they want--but Deese might be their best chance to bring down the whole operation.
Then, they step onto a dirt trail behind Deese's rural Louisiana cabin and find a jungle full of graves.
Now Lucas Davenport is on the trail of a serial killer who has been operating for years without notice. His quarry is ruthless, and--as Davenport will come to find--full of surprises . . .
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The 29th installment in John Sandford’s Prey series opens with an attention-grabbing shock: A convicted criminal disappears from house arrest, leaving his ankle monitor behind—along with several half-eaten bodies. Soon, sardonic U.S. Marshal Lucas Davenport and his team are on the trail of the suspected cannibal and the violent home-invasion gang he’s fallen in with. Narrator Richard Ferrone’s gravelly delivery adds a gritty edge to this nail-biting cat-and-mouse chase that takes us from the swamps of Louisiana to the decadent glitz of Las Vegas.

Lost
I’m a fan of the prey series. This book is unlike any of them. The serial killer is an o-by-the-way type guy. There are so many different things going on in the book. The author likes to talk about clothes, Lucas is the man, and everybody is snarky, believing they’re really funny. Seriously, it’s like the author is doing stand up...not good stand up either. I’ve tried but I can’t finish this book. It’s going no where. I wouldn’t recommend it...there is no mystery or thrill.
