Embarassingly Bad

I don't know who wrote this book, but it isn't the Lisa Jackson I've read and loved over the years. The characters weren't even one-dimensional and seemed to have no depth whatsoever. It should not be advertised as a Bentz/Montoya novel because they hardly seem to be in it. Except, of course, when Bentz's wife Olivia is whining about him leaving his dangerous job. The Olivia we originally met was NOT a whiner. I gave this book two stars instead of just one because I think the idea behind this story was a good one. It just wasn't executed well. Maybe the fault doesn't lie with the author, but with her editor.

Sadly, even worse than the story was the narrator. She was okay on most of the female voices, but her interpretation of the male voices was just horrible. I will be avoiding any books read by her in the future. If you are a completionist as I am and really want to read this book, I recommend you get it from your library rather than spending your hard earned money on it. I'm sorry, I don't normally give negative reviews, but I felt in this case that it was warranted.
