Publisher Description

OCD has often been treated with success. In most cases, this treatment simply means that the symptoms are reduced and managed effectively. OCD can be something to live with, and can even, in some cases, work to a person’s advantage. However, addictions and compulsions can also be harmful to the brain and create a wave of dopamine fluctuations that damages one’s mental health.

In this audiobook, we’ll go over some specific compulsions. We’ll answer various questions and tap into the information we have about hereditary causes. The 12-step program for families is laid out as a useful tool for those who have become caught up in addictions.

I mean it literally when I say that some of the grammar that is in this book is atrocious. It’s surprising the guy reading it will actually pronounce these terribly worded sentences with incorrect tenses, etc. and not pause or waiver in the slightest.

A ton of the info is fluff. Literally stuff that you should discuss directly with your doctor and is fairly common knowledge with medication etc. One gets the idea it is repeated here in such detail to fill space.

The guy narrating has a weird accent and pronounces some words strangely — jarringly. For example he pronounces the medication Clomipramine (pronounced klow mi pruh meen) as Klowm pruh meen. Effectively removing an entire syllable.

The chapters are simply listed as track 1, track 2 etc. This is lazy effort just like the poor grammar, fluff and narration. It takes very little effort to attach a name to an audio track during mixdown.

There are lots of plosives that could have been tamed or removed with basic audio editing software. Also some pronounced movement noises and audio artifacts throughout.

The budget was nonexistent for this one apparently and the people involved are hacks.

I was apprehensive to begin with looking at the cheap looking cover. I google searched for ratings on other sites and found 5.0 star reviews, which set me at ease — unfortunately. Surely, these are fake reviews…

I 100% would not recommend this book. I’m contacting Apple to get a refund as soon as the charge clears.
