I love all of Dean Koontz books, and sure I would like this one. But can not get it to play on my i pod. Please let me know when this problem is fixed.
Failing grade for an A+ author!
After LOVING the first three Odd Thomas books, this book was an apparent "slam dunk" for curling up in a corner and being entertained. Instead, I found a novel that seemed to be one never-ending stream of consciousness from the author. Wasn't there anyone giving feedback? Where was the editor? The plot consists of Odd running around, avoiding bad guys by pure luck, all while telling the reader his random thoughts. No action. No plot. No suspense. To make matters worse, EVERY description of the world consists of a "heavy fog." What could be more boring than imagining a white haze for the ENTIRE BOOK! Further annoyances consisted of minor characters being introduced, only to learn upon the book's conclusion that they had absolutely no relevance to the book's story whatsoever. If you had the audacity to kill off a major character like Stormy, do NOT change your mind and then reintroduce some other random character that is basically her but, well, isn't. While Odd's strange and unique abilities (couples with his normalcy) are what makes him interesting, having him run around and just encounter random events doesn't make for a good book. If I would have wanted to read someone's random mental ramblings as he runs around in a dense fog while just, quite literally, stumbling luckily into the next page, I would have read my High School journal. I love your work Mr. Koontz, but this last book seemed to be rushed out to meet a publishing deadline. The problem with great authors is that your readers expect greatness. Not 50% of the time. Not even 90% of the time. We know what you're capable of and you're expected to meet the standard. Grade? Fail!
Odd Thomas Good, Apple Bad
Glad to see I'm not alone. I am anxious for Apple to fix the problem with this audiobook so we can listen to it soon. It is not playable on four different iPods I have tried. Customer Service credited me back, and just told me to "check back"
