Publisher Description
Long-buried secrets. A devastating global conspiracy. And only one man who can stop it: Navy SEAL James Reece. From the “seriously good” (Lee Child) #1 New York Times bestselling author, Jack Carr.
In 1980, a freshman congressman was gunned down in Rhode Island, sending shockwaves through Washington that are still reverberating over four decades later.
Now, with the world on the brink of war and a weakened United States facing rampant inflation, political division, and shocking assassinations, a secret cabal of global elites is ready to assume control. And with the world’s most dangerous man locked in solitary confinement, the conspirators believe the final obstacle to complete domination has been eliminated. They’re wrong.
From the firms of Wall Street to the corridors of power in Washington, DC, and Moscow, secrets from the past have the uncanny ability to rise to the surface in the present.
With the odds stacked against him, James Reece is on a mission generations in the making. Unfortunately for his enemies, the former SEAL is not concerned with odds. He is on the warpath. And when James Reece picks up his tomahawk and sniper rifle, no one is out of range.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In Jack Carr’s pulse-pounding thriller, CIA operative James Reece is in custody after being framed for a presidential assassination he had nothing to do with. Now, Reece must figure out who wants him out of the game—and how it all connects to the global conspiracy his father died trying to uncover. Carr makes Reece’s quest feel psychologically intense in a way that goes beyond the wild shoot-outs and chase scenes, and Ray Porter’s narration underscores the dire circumstances facing not just the hero but the world at large. Only the Dead is a thinking person’s political thriller that doesn’t skimp on furious action.
Customer Reviews
Great plot, with up to date relevant context
Again the plot and story is good, the only drawback from this being a 5 star is the excruciating level of details when describing what feels like unrelated to the story and more like page or chapter filling content. With more about the plot and storyline it would have been great… as it stands it feels like I am wasting my life waiting for something real to happen
A stretch
I didn't enjoy this particular installment of the series as much as the others. I felt that the story was overly prolonged and lacked depth, which made it less engaging for me.
Perfect!
I’ve never been a big book listener until Jack Carr came along! His books have me hooked!
