Surprising
I grew up loving JS & felt terrible when I heard her & Nick divorced. In this book I found that JS is so very much more than her link to NL, or the beautiful “pop star” singer & even her faith.
She gets candid & very venerable in this about various times in her life.
I’d recommend this regardless if you care about JS the “Pop star” or at all.
It’s about a little girl, a teen idol, a business woman, a sister, daughter, wife and mother. It gets messy sometimes just like everyone’s life does.
Cried, laughed, loved it!
Started this book taking drives back and forth from my home to Ft. Worth (6hrs). I was crying about Sarah through Waco… and was inspired by the prayer journal. Hope to start that one day. The whole book is inspiring.. she is smart, funny, talented, and real ! It was really a great book!

Surprisingly articulate, Open Book was clearly written by a woman who is just beginning to uncover the roots of what may be her true purpose. This book is a heartfelt example of what happens when you walk through fire and trust the process. Never are we on the other side of difficultly until the end, but with her writing Simpson shows us how beautiful a tragic story can be. Her music born out of a lifetime of pain will inspire others to take things one day at a time. Simpson, with dignity and grace, has given survivors permission to love the broken parts of themselves as fiercely as we know others already do.❤️Thank you for your courage, and for. this book Jessica darling.🙏
