Complete Wisdom

Allan Watts speaks the magic. His wisdom is the reason I listen. That is gold. The cons are in the organization of the material. Not the order the lectures are in mind you. Starting with the actual titles of his lectures are not used in any section headings. Leaving the listener to navigation 14 hours of lectures without a roadmap. Then apparently, Apple allows audiobooks to be broken-up differently on each different device. This might be fine for a short book. This makes it clumsy to follow a 14 hour audiobook. You end up with continuity problems between devices.

What happens here totally ignores Apple intuitiveness. On your computer you download into iTunes two blocks. They are 6 and 7 plus hour segments. Within these two huge blocks of information are many lectures. None with their own names. Apple uses Track 1 through 2o something to describe them. OK fine I can get used to that. But wait, theres more.

Now go listen to it on your iPhone or your Apple TV. You find there they use a completely different organization scheme. Still no lecture names but the blocks are is broken into many smaller downloads. So much so that it is impossible to trend from one apple device to the other and stay at the same place continuously. You have to keep track of where you are in the audiobook by using hours and minutes. Then transposing that into whichever device you are listening on. Takes the joy out of the experience. By the time I have finally figured out where I am the spirit is broken. How dumbing is this? Is this supposed to make things easier?

I can live with the guitar interludes, the girlie introductions, even the noise and babies in the room and other background sounds. This is Alan Watts at his finest! But the way Apple breaks or allows them to be is so confusing it disrupts the feature. Apples shameful organization is totally counter intuitive.

Open your mind

I used to be the type to laugh at this subject matter. Now I find it fascinating, a truly intellectual experience. Thanks Alan! RIP my friend
