Publisher Description
New York Times best seller Pepper Winters delivers another delicious dark romance.
"I'm not the hero in this story, girl. You'd do best to remember that."
Once upon a time, I was an 18-year-old psychology student.
Now, I'm a man's property.
Stolen and sold, I've been decorated in bruises since the day my world changed two years ago.
I suffer in silence, I crave freedom, but I never break.
I can't.
Until he arrives.
Elder Prest, the only man to look at me and see me. The only man more ruthless than my owner.
He wants me for reasons I don't understand.
He claims me for one night then leaves and never looks back.
Until he returns.
And life becomes much more complicated.
Customer Reviews
This isn't a romance
A few things come to mind when reviewing this story. First, it isn’t a romance, not at all, not even a little bit. It’s the first book in a series where a romance may start, but this book is about a young girl who gets kidnapped and sold into slavery. It is horrific and brutal. Luckily not as graphic as it could have been. A lot of the sexual abuse was implied, which I am incredibly grateful of. But there is a lot of physical abuse that is very brutal. So be forewarned
This story is mainly in both characters headspace, which I usually am not a big fan of, but with this, it worked. I have already grabbed book 2 to continue this story. Not sure if I will go further than that, we will see. Dark romances aren’t usually my favorite, but every once in awhile, one will peak my interest.
Eric Rolon and Kylie C Stewart did a phenomenal job on the narration, and it was also in my favorite format of a duet. I loved that. I am giving Pennies: Dollar, Volume 1, 4 Boundless Stars, even though it was brutal and dark, I still want to know what comes next.
