Closer...
They found the town silent, apparently abandoned. Then they found the first body strangely swollen and still warm. One hundred fifty were dead, 350 missing. But the terror had only begun in the tiny mountain town of Snowfield, California.
...and closer...
At first, they thought it was the work of a maniac. Or terrorists. Or toxic contamination. Or a bizarre new disease.
...and closer...
But then they found the truth. And they saw it in the flesh. And it was worse than anything any of them had ever imagined.

excellent
this one was a thriller / scarry. Dean Koontz is a sick man but i love it and you will too
Grips you!
This is a great story from begining to end, got this story to listen to on a long drive to keep me awake, this story not only kept me awake but made me wish the drive was longer so that I could finish it in one trip, this story keeps you interested from begining to end!
A very well done creep & yuck show.
After having listened to a few books that I found rather dry and unsatisfying, I felt like some really lurid and totally park-your-brain gratuitous entertainment. Even though I’m not a big fan of Koontz’, the description of this book seemed to fit the bill.
And indeed it did. It’s lurid, it’s creepy, it’s interestingly twisted.
The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the incredible dunderheadedness of the characters and their dialog, especially in the first half of the book, after that it begins to improve slightly - either that or I just got used to it,
Anyway, I thought it was a very good horror read.
