Brandy became a generational icon with her starring role on the ’90s sitcom Moesha and hit songs like “The Boy Is Mine” (with singer Monica). In this beautiful, sincere memoir, the singer and actress finally opens up about a literal lifetime in the spotlight. Brandy was given her first solo in the church choir when she was still a toddler. By 11, she was employed as a professional backup singer, and by 15, she was releasing her acclaimed self-titled debut. Brandy speaks with incredible tenderness about the mentors who made her success possible, from her vocalist father who lovingly coached her as a singer to the inspiring teacher who gave her the tools to act on screen. Remarkable and Thank you!
I bought this audiobook because of all the online chatter about the Wanya situation.
However, this book is SO MUCH more than that, and I wish her overall story of self-discovery and resilience, took center stage over a her being taken advantage of; not that it isn’t significant, but how she has evolved is so more important.
I hate that I have slept on much of her work, after her 1st two albums…I’m rediscovering her music and I’m loving it!!!!
