USA Today best-seller lists, Katie MacAlister’s paranormal romances combine devilish wit and spicy passion. The start of a thrilling new series, Playing with Fire finds Gabriel Tauhou, leader of the Silver Dragons, smitten by the beguiling May Northcott. Possessing an unusual ability to disappear into the shadows, May, however, has little time for love as she evades Otherworld law and hunts a mysterious blackmailer.
The story itself was interesting enough but they chose a woman as the narrator that sounds like she's in her 90's. Which in most cases wouldn't be a problem, but its definitely creepy to hear someone who sounds like your grandmother reading to you about sex (when those scenes come along)....shudder
May Ling aint no Aisling Greg...
I found the main character, May, (her twins nickname for her is May-ling) a bit dull. Perhaps it could have explained more about her beginnings - but then I guess the lurid romance was the name of the game in this series. I won't be buying and more of the Silver Dragon Series. The narrator's voice also did not fit the character - I found her voice distracting.
