Publisher Description

Join in meditations developed at one of the world's great meditation centers and gain ideal support for a daily mindfulness practice. Here are 4 authentic meditations from Plum Village, the celebrated Zen sanctuary and peace center founded by Thich Nhat Hanh in southern France. Hanh is a meditation master who Thomas Merton has described as "the Zen monk who sees beyond life and death." These inspiring guided meditations teach conscious breathing for calming the mind and cultivating joy, body appreciation and attunement practice, and how to transform your anger into seeds of kindness.

Good Meditations But a Bit Cumbersome to Use

I am a big fan of Thich Naht Hanh's teachings. I bought this particular "audio book" on cassette many years ago, and I liked it so much that I instantly purchased it on iTunes when I saw it was available. This recording has several virtues, but it is not really an "audio book." Half of it is bell sounds that are useful for practicing mindfulness meditations. The other half is a series of guided meditations presented by Sister Jina. Both of these halves combine to make a solid, useful addition to any Thich Naht Hanh library. My main criticism of this recording is that it is not broken into chapters. Thus, one cannot navigate to any particular guided meditation. I find this particular aspect of this recording frustrating. In that way, the iTunes version of this recording is not much different that old cassette I purchased years ago. Regardless, I recommend this recording for anyone who wants to get a taste of mindfullness meditation in the Thich Nhat Hanh style.

Excellent Audiobook

This audiobook contains Thich Nhat Hahn ringing the bell from Plum Village intermitently throughout the piece. It is an excellent way to help meditation as the bell brings one back gently into the moment. The second part of the audiobook is guided meditations by Sister Jina - which is a wonderful followup to the bell. Serious meditators will find this approach helpful - especially during private meditation times.

Plum Village Meditations

This is a wonderful recording of guided meditations with a nun. Guided meditations are a great way to learn sitting meditation practice. Guided meditations were important even in the time of the Buddha. A lotus to you.
