Publisher Description

English actress Kate Beckinsale is the perfect reader for Jane Austen’s brilliant satire-slash-love story.

Very few novels inspire the kind of fanatical devotion that Jane Austen’s Regency-era classic does. Pride and Prejudice follows the inimitable Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters, who are expected to behave in just-so, socially acceptable ways…but that’s not really in the cards. Pride and Prejudice is a witty satire, a family melodrama, and, above all, one of the greatest—and most imitated—love stories in Western literature.

There was no such thing as an audiobook when Jane Austen first published Pride and Prejudice in 1813, but we know that Austen liked to test her novels by reading them out loud to her family. Actress Kate Beckinsale narrates this Apple Books exclusive audiobook of the beloved English novel, which is perfect considering Beckinsale portrayed another Austen heroine in a 1996 movie adaptation of Emma.

Favorite Audiobook

I have listened to this audiobook, (I’m not even kidding 👀), at least 100 times. It is narrated and produced so well that I enjoy it as much, and maybe even more, as the last time! I play it over and over and it is the one thing that calms me when I’m my lowest or most anxious. It’s like watching a soap opera in your mind, trying to picture faces and actions, especially with the very distinct carrying voices for the characters!

Don’t Get the Mr. Darcy Fandom

Listened to this as an audiobook read by Kate Beckinsale as I painted various rooms of my new house!

Very charming, with humorous characters and a complex story. I feel like my eyes may have crossed a bit if I had been reading this work on paper, but the audiobook was done beautifully and kept my attention for all of the key points.

I will say, I don’t get the obsession with Mr Darcy from the female audience that have held this book in such high acclaim, but that’s just me I suppose.
