Much has been written and talked about prayer. For many, it is an almost unfathomable concept. Prayer is how we humbly and directly talk to God. Prayer is our telephone line to God the Father, through the Son Jesus, in the Holy Spirit. When you pray, you enter into a conversation with God. Every time that you speak words to God, you are not just talking to the walls or the open sky, you are talking directly talking to God. Prayer is about God. It is about His will and His way. It is about His Kingdom. Sadly, we have made prayer too technical. It has become too religious. It has become too traditional. It has become too philosophical, or even intellectual. For some, it is not even about God or His Will or His Kingdom, but about the selfish desires of the heart. Prayer has never meant to be mechanical, laborious, stale, or boring. It is supposed to be alive, for we are communicating with the living God! It should be pulsating with power, for we should be praying in the might, wisdom and knowledge of the Holy Spirit. Prayer shouldn't just be about praying according to a list, but praying according to God's Will, His truth, His Word and purposes. The power of prayer lies in God. By talking to God, and when it is in line with His will, then the power of God will be set in motion. God can do anything, for He has created the universe. We need to pray until we become prayer. Prayer must no longer be the Cinderella of the church; it must be her lifeline in perilous times, and her comfort and strength when stepping into the secret place of God's Presence. May we be a praying people to God's glory.
