The book that made me fall for reading
This series by Sea by Lois Walfrid Johnson was the first time I fell in love with reading, and it’s what got me interested in reading in the first place. I remember getting pulled into the story and actually wanting to keep going to find out what happened next. The adventure and characters made it fun and easy to enjoy. I also appreciated how the author tied Christianity into the story in a natural, believable way, which felt much less forced than most books for that age group at the time.
Even years later, I still think of it as the book that turned reading into something I chose to do on my own. Revisiting it as an adult is a deeply nostalgic experience. I can see the simplicity now, but I also understand why it meant so much to me. It reminds me of a time when discovering a story felt magical and when every new chapter was an adventure. More than anything, it reminds me that this single book is what started my lifelong love of reading.
For that reason alone, it will always be one of the most important books I have ever owned. And why I’ve kept my paper back copy’s for my kids.
