Radical Self Inquiry
I do not understand the two written reviews that preceded this or what motivations they may have had for writing them but here is my take.
Jerry is one of the most vulnerable leaders I have ever met and his story is moving and impactful. He dives into they key issues with leadership today and the need for “Radical Self Inquiry” which is a massive gap in our society today.
This book made me look deeper at how I am showing up and Jerry’s work had impacted me greatly as a leader.
Pedantic
I want to start off this review with the most important takeaway: This book isn’t really centered around leadership. Sure, there might be one or two things you can take away to become a better leader, but they’re really not insights you couldn’t receive elsewhere. The majority of the book focuses on the author’s broken childhood and muddled interpretations on spirituality; not his clients or consulting work. The tone of the book hinges wildly, swinging from uplifting to darkly somber; it’s written entirely in a stream of consciousness style that makes it unbearable to follow. As stated before - it’s not really a leadership or professional development book. Instead, it’s a repetitive autobiography with a few lessons sprinkled in.
Reboot Leadership and the art of growing up
Most worthless leadership book I have had to endure. Struggling throughout to make sense of the authors own baseless self defined truths defined in his morally bankrupt soul. I have nothing but pity and a prayer to extend to those that find direction in this groundless babbling. His self evident findings are wracked with fault and moral depravity. These are hours of my life I can not regain due to the reading of this book.
