Deborah Garland pens another amazing novel, a dark mafia romance set in her equally amazing “Astoria Royals” world. Garland created something very special when she created this world and the O’Rourke family, an Irish mob family who has become one of my favorite crime families. “Reckless Obsession” is Eoghan O’Rourke’s and Jillian Diamond’s story and they are both attorneys, but on opposing sides. Jillian is a prosecutor in Las Vegas, looking to further her career, though it has not been a picnic with her brother as her boss, especially when he tells to her drop the case she was working on, one that has solid evidence. Eoghan, the family’s attorney, flies into Vegas because his brother, Cormac, has gotten himself in trouble with the law. He makes a deal with the prosecutor to get the charges dropped in exchange for his help on another case. Jillian was not happy about dropping the charges and went to have a few drinks after work, only to run into the opposing attorney, the one who got his client off scot-free. The chemistry between those two was off the charts and once he had her, he knew it would not be enough, and being her first sealed that deal, despite her not knowing it yet, he’d be her last too, “Sparkles” was his. Now that Jillian got rid of her v-card and had a taste of ecstasy, she wanted more and with all the romance books she read, she wanted to explore, so her friend talked her in to signing up with a dating app. Eoghan was not having any of that and did whatever it took to stop her from being with another guy, even if he had to be that other guy. Wow, just wow, this guy was intense, and I absolutely loved it and the creative and roundabout ways he made sure he’d be her only one. There is never a dull moment in this cleverly plotted story, a multi-layered story with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance, including play and scenes that were well done. Deborah Garland, thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 Deborah Garland has the knack for, and the ear, to choose the perfect cast to bring her characters to life, Aaron Shedlock and Stella Hunter did that and so much more, not only delivering a spot-on portrayal of each, but capturing the chemistry between the two leads, Eoghan and Jillian. It was like they became the characters and were naturals in the roles, with Shedlock nailing it as Eoghan, Irish accent and all, showcasing his intense personality and demeanor perfectly. Hunter was just as fabulous as Jillian, grasping all sides of her personality as well, from her goodness to her naughtiness, as well as her strength, determination, and fierceness. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These versatile voice artists are a pleasure to listen to and their performance takes this already amazing story to another level.
