Publisher Description
Davis was five years older than me . . . antisocial and temperamental. And there was the little fact that he didn't know I existed. Still, I gave him my heart, and he crushed it.
So I picked up the pieces and ran away to New York City. I had a plan that would keep my heart intact for years. But one phone call changed everything.
Returning home meant facing the past . . . and the man who ruined me. I had hoped that the mountain had swallowed him whole.
But, as I set out to help my parents, I discover he's not only alive and well, but that they apparently love the jerk. He has no idea that we have a past, which is both a relief and salt in the wound.
I promise myself I'll ignore how his eyes linger on me, or how his touch feels like a live wire, and I'll remember that once upon a time he broke me, and for that, I refuse to fall for him again.
But I can't control that he seems to be falling for me this time.
Contains mature themes.

Love and Growth
‘I fell for Davis in ways I’d never recover from.’
Davis is the grumpy recluse—a nobody who lived up on Mount Macon, only coming down a few times a month to gather supplies or get gas. But to the young girl Rae, he was a forgotten king, hiding away in his fortress. Deep down, there was rusted armor that just needed someone to help him unearth, so he could be brave again.
Rae is returning to her town of Macon after struggling for 4 years. She wants to put her teenage crush behind her but now he finally notices her. There are some heartfelt scenes that include young Rae and Davis family ties. I found adult Rae annoying at times but loved her friendship with Nora. This is the first real relationship for Davis and man does he love hard: ‘I want to take you home and let you steal my flannels.’…. Omg swooning
Some nice steamy scenes and love Davis dirty talk and dominance 🔥. Definately download the bonus scenes to get some more hotness!
I was crying at the end at the beautiful scene Davis deserved ❤️🩹
