From #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly: Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller enlists the help of his half-brother, Harry Bosch, to prove the innocence of a woman convicted of killing her husband.
Defense attorney Mickey Haller is back, taking the long shot cases, where the chances of winning are one in a million. After getting a wrongfully convicted man out of prison, he is inundated with pleas from incarcerated people claiming innocence. He enlists his half brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, to weed through the letters, knowing most claims will be false.
Bosch pulls a needle from the haystack: a woman in prison for killing her husband, a sheriff’s deputy, but who still maintains her innocence. Bosch reviews the case and sees elements that don’t add up, and a sheriff’s department intent on bringing quick justice in the killing of one of its own.
Now Haller has an uphill battle in court, a David fighting Goliaths to vindicate his client. The path for both lawyer and investigator is fraught with danger from those who don’t want the case reopened and will stop at nothing to keep the Haller-Bosch dream team from finding the truth. Packed with intrigue and courtroom drama, Resurrection Walk shows once again that Michael Connelly is “the most consistently superior living crime fiction author” (South Florida Sun Sentinel).
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Mickey Haller, also known as the Lincoln Lawyer, and onetime LAPD detective Harry Bosch team up in this all-star legal thriller from Michael Connelly. Defense attorney Mickey Haller takes on the most desperate cases—like that of Lucinda Sanz, who was poorly advised to take a plea deal when she was accused of killing her sheriff’s deputy ex-husband. But once Haller enlists his half-brother, retired detective Harry Bosch, to investigate the murder, the pair start uncovering evidence that the supposedly open-and-shut case is way more complicated…and dangerous. Connelly neatly shuttles between Haller’s and Bosch’s POVs as he lays out this stunningly convoluted investigation. Narrators Peter Giles and Titus Welliver (who famously played Bosch on the TV series) ramp up the tension between the brothers, while Christine Lakin provides sparkling contrast in a cameo as LAPD detective Renée Ballard. Even before its courthouse finale, Resurrection Walk has all the twists and angles of Connelly at his best.

Mickey & Harry Unite
I loved the plot & the story, but the orators took some getting used to. Harry sounded drunk most of the time. Keep them coming MC!
Great book, but…
Good, suspenseful entry, but the handoff between Giles and Welliver can be jarring. Welliver tends to voice different characters with subtle variations of his own voice, while Giles goes for specific voices. This can be jarring when, as in the case of the trial judge, the two versions don’t jibe. It is particularly acute in the case of the forensics expert who, as voiced by Welliver, sounds like an attractive woman, but the Giles version makes her sound like an Eastern European grandfather.
Excellent story, but….
The production quality isn’t up to the standard for this series. The person who voices Haller has a tone and edge to his voice that is just wrong for the role. It’s tough to listen to, and the volume discrepancy between voices makes it a tough listen as well. I am a HUGE fan of the Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer books and audios, but recommend sticking to the book on this one.
