I am so invested!
Oddly enough, my confusion as to what is happening in this story is my favorite part!! The drama that surrounds these main characters has me foaming at the mouth and I can't wait to see what is uncovered throughout the series. Safe to say, I am absolutely invested.
Also, I listened to the audiobook and while there is only a female narrator, the voice she uses for the MMC is PERFECTION. So so good!
I'm definitely excited to listen to the second book
This is touted as a dark romance, but there are only bits and pieces of romance and they're not really dark. This is more of a lead up to the romance that I think is going to happen in the second book. I mean, there are a few steamy scenes in this one but don't expect just straight smut. I actually don't even know if I would consider this a romance...if I was going to say it's a romance, it's def in the romantic suspense category. And it's not even until the end of the book that you really get a better understanding of the blurb.
As for Poppy...she's a character you love to hate just a little bit. The narrator does an amazing job making her sound weak, which she kind of is. She's definitely dealt with horrible experiences, like physical abuse from her husband, but she also just doesn't open her eyes to what's going on around her. And girl really needs to before she ends up dead because of her ignorance.
I'm definitely excited to listen to the second book...not only to get more Ronan, but just to figure out what's going to happen after that cliffhanger!!
