Running on Diesel: The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor, Book 9 (Unabridged‪)‬

Well, this was certainly an adventure. But one I was excited to go on even before starting the book. If you’ve listened to the Whiskey books in order like I’ve had the pleasure of doing, then you’ve experienced the buildup of Diesel and Tracey. After all that has transpired between them as secondary characters in other books, I was excited to know they were getting their own books, and even more excited that it was together. And after all that build up, and with everything that happens in this book, I understand why they needed to be saved for last.

First off, in my opinion, Tracy needed time to be ready for Diesel. He scared her at first. With her history that was understandable and so it wouldn’t have been as believable for them to get together too soon.

Second, I think the time Diesel spent around the rest of the Whiskeys and their growing group filled with children and kindness and love helped soften his edges just enough for him to be open to what Tracy could bring into his life. He also has quite a bit of hurt and sadness in his past that made him very closed off and gruff and while by no means did ALL of that go away, enough of it did to allow Tracy behind his walls.

The story flowed and was laid out so well that it was hard to want to stop listening. And then there were some pretty big twists and surprises thrown in that kept things interesting. Plus, the amazing narration from two very talented performers was the icing on this multi layered experience.

Melissa Foster definitely has me hooked on her story telling and I cannot wait to hear more from her.

Tracey and Diesel are an unlikely couple until Diesel comes to Tracey's rescue and she sees the gentler side to him. Running from demons in his past, as Diesel and Tracey spend more time together, she is the missing piece that will make his life whole again. After leaving an abusive relationship, Tracey decides to put her trust into the brooding biker knowing deep down he's got a heart of gold.

Running on Diesel is another great story of tortured souls finding what's missing to obtain their HEA. There are moments that will make you chuckle, as well as swoon and the chemistry of these two characters is off the charts.

Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood are awesome narrators. Another great one by Melissa Foster.

I could not put this book down. Foster creates such great characters – she builds their back stories so the reader can understand what motivates them. Their character development throughout the book highlights how they overcome adversity or grief or anger etc...
Diesel and Tracey have such great chemistry – whether they are arguing, sassing each other, or just enjoying each other’s company. Their romance was a slow burn, but when they finally give into their attraction, they were combustible. He is the definition of a growly, sexy alpha. Tracey has overcome adversity and become a stronger, more confident woman who can go toe to toe with Diesel when necessary.
Their love story was heartwarming and such an enjoyable read. I think Foster knocked it out of the park with this book – it’s a must for any TBR. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
