Abby Jimenez goes for a mixture of laughter and tears in this long-distance romance. When kindhearted marketing manager Samantha rushes a rescued kitten to the animal hospital, she ends up in a war of words with Xavier, the grumpy vet on duty. One excellent apology later, they go on pretty much the best first date ever. Only problem is, Sam’s on the verge of moving back home to California to become her ill mother’s full-time at-home caregiver, so romance is the last thing on her radar. We were instantly smitten with this couple, not to mention Samantha’s sweet family and Xavier’s oddball friends and coworkers. At the same time, this is an all-too-real family drama about caring for a loved one who’s slipping away from you, so keep the tissues handy as well. Christine Lakin and Matt Lanter’s narration is natural and emotive, especially when Sam and Xavier are talking directly to each other. This one’s a roller coaster, but it’s worth the ride.

Such a Cute Story
I love Abby Jimenez. This was my fourth book I’ve read by this author. Her easy style makes story telling fun. She has a way of making me fall in love with the characters, and this book was no exception. Samantha and Xavier’s love story kept me wanting more , and I was sad when I came to the final chapter.
Just Wow!
First of all loveddd all the voices even the ones being imitated, it helped with imagery and made the story that much more immersive. Secondly this story telling along with all the relatable details hard my heart in a chokehold! This is an amazing piece. Be ready to laugh, cry, and hope!
Trigger Warnings Should be: If You’re Stupid
All you need is love. Love conquers all. Nothing else matters, but love. I’ve never wanted to induce vomiting more… If ever the wrong message was sent, it is this book. Going bankrupt and allowing abuse on purpose is apparently the author’s new motto for love. I couldn’t relax and just get into the book for funs sake, because of how insane and completely unrealistic the book was. The family members allow themselves to be abused rather than put the mother in a proper care facility. The male main character was going live off the system for love?!?! I adore, though, the quick turnaround at the end and of course everything works out fine- in California?!?!?! The most expensive place in the country. I just can’t…
