Once upon a time, I thought I’d found my happy ever after. Until she ruined it all.
I’d been on the hunt for four long years, and I finally found her.
I planned the perfect revenge. Kidnapping Rapsody on the day she was set to marry another man and forcing her to face my wrath while trapped in the confines of my family’s gothic manor.
Despite my desire to punish her, there is still an undeniable pull between us. But as the walls of the manor close in around us, we both have to confront the truth. Can we trust each other, or will my dark past consume us both?
SHATTERED VOWS is a dark contemporary romance that weaves together the themes of desire and redemption and is a Rapunzel reimagining with the following tropes: age gap, anti-hero, gothic romance, secret society, forced proximity, opposites attract, enemies to lovers, morality chain, billionaire, and second chance.

Flawless execution of this Rapunzel retelling
Oh…my…goodness!! This retelling of Rapunzel completely consumed me. I couldn’t get enough of Kol & Rapsody. This darker side of P. Rayne speaks to my darker side & I’m totally ok with it.
Midnight Manor has its fair share of secrets, but it also harbors the Voss brothers who all have their own vices to deal with. Kol is no exception. Boy obsessed is a nice way to describe him. And his obsession just happens to be a gorgeous blonde who possesses way more innocence than an average 23 year old. But through a chance meeting, a whirlwind romance, & broken promises, she has completely bewitched him.
For Rapsody, every new day is an exciting adventure. She cherishes every moment & desires to experience life to its absolute fullest. No prison can hold her back anymore, & with Kol by her side, she can break every chain that once held her captive. Except these two are polar opposites in comparison. In order to find their happily ever after, one must concede. Who is willing to make the greatest sacrifice for love?
This book brought the spice in spades. Their secret society glimpses were so seductive & tempting. The suspense hook had me panting and begging for more. Watching the Voss brothers protect their own is definitely a sight to behold.
Audiobook Review:
Tor Thomas’s deep timber was the perfect match for the broody ex-military/enforcer Voss brother. He owned the scenes with Rapsody & completely consumed the character. Muffy Newton brought an air of innocence to the narration that exquisitely depicted Rapaody’s inexperience in life. The duet narration thoroughly sucked me in to the story & I didn’t want to let it go.
Even better in audio!

>>>>> Sweet, innocent Rapsody has a naughty side, and now that I’ve discovered it, it’s impossible to ignore. <<<<<
📚 Book Review 📚
Shattered Vows is a loose Rapunzel retelling. I really enjoyed it. It was fun to see how the authors tied the well-loved story into a contemporary setting with secret societies, possessive men, and dark themes. I found it to be an exciting and spicy read.
This is the second of the Vos brothers’ tales. Kol is just as OTT J/P as his brother, Asher, and falls just as hard for his woman, despite himself. What started as a kidnapping and revenge plot quickly devolved into love and an even greater obsession.
I had mixed feelings towards Rapsody. The naive virgin trope is not one of my favorite tropes—I much prefer a stronger character—but Rapsody’s upbringing under her heavy-handed mother left no other option. She had to be naïve and untouched to fit her past; nothing else would have made sense.
This is a medium/fast-burn and spicy MF romance with a lot of sexual exploration.
Shattered Vows can be read as a complete standalone.
If you love dark retellings, this is the book for you.
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
The book itself was exciting, but it’s even better in audio!
I loved the duet-style narration by Tor Thom and Muffy Newton. They were perfect fits for Kol, Rapsody, and the secondary characters. They made the spicy scenes pop and gave life to the characters.
This is an easy book to get lost in.

Kol Finds Rhapsody
Shattered Vows is the second book in the Midnight Manor series by P Rayne. This is a Rapunzel fairytale retelling. Rhapsody had been engaged to marry Kol Voss and had arranged to meet him at the courthouse in Atlanta when she was 19 years old, but she failed to show up and disappeared. Finding her had become Kol’s obsession, and when he finally did after four years of searching, he discovered that she was about to marry again. He kidnapped her from the church on her wedding day, bringing her back to Midnight Manor and locking her in a tower. But when he finally got answers about why she had left him, he discovered that some of the blame was laid at his feet. As time went by, he felt less angry with her, but was unsure what to do with her. Rhapsody had run with her mother and changed her name four years earlier when she discovered that Kohl had lied to her. Now he has finally found her again and he saved her from making a mistake, marrying for the wrong reasons. She hated being a prisoner in a tower, but when Kohl let her out, she accepted his offer to stay at the manor while she figured out her next steps. Will these two lover find their way back to each other or has there been too much betrayal on both sides? This is another dark, gothic romance by P Rayne and it was delicious. The chemistry between Kohl and Rhapsody was palpable, and their intimate moments were sizzling hot. I enjoyed reading about pure, innocent, sheltered Rhapsody becoming part of the Voss family with their violent past, secrets, and proclivities. The story took a twist at the end which was unexpected and explained Rhapsody’s unusual upbringing. I would definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy dark romance with a high spice level. For all their hard edges, the Voss men are seeming softer with each tale that has been told. I would like to thank Valentine PR and P Rayne for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
