This memoir from the bestselling author of Postcards from the Edge and Wishful Drinking gives you an intimate, gossip-filled look at what it’s like to be the daughter of Hollywood royalty.
Told with the same intimate style, brutal honesty, and uproarious wisdom that locked Wishful Drinking on the New York Times bestseller list for months, Shockaholic is the juicy account of Carrie Fisher’s life. Covering a broad range of topics—from never-before-heard tales of Hollywood gossip to outrageous moments of celebrity desperation; from alcoholism to illegal drug use; from the familial relationships of Hollywood royalty to scandalous run-ins with noteworthy politicians; from shock therapy to talk therapy—Carrie Fisher gives an intimate portrait of herself, and she’s one of the most indelible and powerful forces in culture at large today. Just as she has said of playing Princess Leia—“It isn’t all sweetness and light sabers”—Fisher takes readers on a no-holds-barred narrative adventure, both laugh-out-loud funny and poignant.

There is something about Carrie Fisher that draws me to her. She has certainly lived an entertaining, complicated life, and she wastes no words in putting it out there, for all to see.
Oddly enough, she's my girl.
After a day of writing research proposals, and fending off paper cuts, I decided to flip and rotate my mattress. During this process, my (ever present) mother called to tell me that she had just pulled her laptop cord over her bed and spilled red wine all over her bazillion thread count sheets. Before you develop some sort of prejudice, let me tell you that we are all completely broke (as these things tend to happen). I said to myself WWCFD? Or, for the uninitiated, "What Would Carrie Fisher Do?". It was at this point that I remembered that Carrie's new book was out, and that I should find out just what she would do. Thus the download.
A+ Carrie. It's a wonderful follow up to Wishful Drinking, from a REAL person, with a definate sense of self, and brilliant sense of humour about said self. If only everyone could reflect in such a way that at the same time can be self-depricating, and self-affirming.
I absolutely recommend this audiobook for anyone who has a decent perspective on their place in the universe. Or that galaxy far far... blah blah blah ;)
Another great book!
Love this book. I am a fan of hers and enjoy her real life writings.
