Siege is the conclusion to Rhiannon Frater’s As the World Dies trilogy, which should appeal to fans of The Walking Dead. Both The First Days and Fighting to Survive won the Dead Letter Award from Mail Order Zombie. The First Days was named one of the Best Zombie Books of the Decade by the Harrisburg Book Examiner.
The zombie illness has shattered civilization. The survivors, who have found tenuous safety in Texas, defend their fort against the walking dead and living bandits. Katie has made peace with the death of her wife and is pregnant and married to Travis, who has been elected mayor. Jenni; her stepson, Jason; and Juan - Travis’s right-hand man - are a happy family, though Jenni suffers from PTSD. Both women are deadly zombie killers.
In Siege, the people of Ashley Oaks are stunned to discover that the vice president of the United States is alive and commanding the remnants of the US military. And what’s left of the US government has plans for this group of determined survivors.

One review you should really heed
I am on an almost year long Zom-Apoc audio book phase. I have a job that has me on a job 5 hrs away from my home and at 3 a.m. Monday morn south to work and Sat afternoon I do the reverse to go home for a short visit w my kids. I actually look forward to my drives since I am an audio book junkie. I even have a special safety vest w a huge pocket on its back that I can put my iPad in and listen as I conduct ALL my managerial duties with my Bluetooth headphones all day long too.
But getting to the book..like I said, I am addicted to these kinda books..read a TON. Some good n some horrible. I just finished all 3 books in this series and honestly..almost pressed stop 20 mins into the 1st book w all the whining n repetitive weak personality drama. BUT I didn't n am SOOO glad I didn't. I consider myself "manly man" (haha, I know) but I am NOT ashamed to say I cried on more than a half dozen occasions through out my experience w this series. Especially in the last book. This author has almost a bionic ability to make you feel so close to the characters, the trials and tribs (both good n bad) and just the whole story that I have been in a dark funk since finishing Siege wishing with all my might there were more books to follow.
I wanna end this with one simple statement...GET THESE BOOKS. You will NOT be let down. (Than I say try Tufo's "zombie fallout" series. Lil slow at start but awesome n VERY funny.
She has done better
Her other books are pretty good. This one... I will be frank, it has a lot of homosexuality pushed onto the reader/listener. It's pretty distracting and does not really add to the story. There is a lot of actions done by men done on the sole propose of emotion not logic. I truly enjoyed her other books but this was a drama queens zombie novel. I'm not writing this against homosexuality, it's just I truly don't think sexual orientation needs to be pushed this much in fight or flight situations. It gets pretty rough in parts. But if your into that maybe it's for you, just seems some chapters are written on the actions on a few people that go on great lengths to "get back/get at them." If your not into go some place else.
A Satisfying Conclusion To a Great Series!
A thrill ride with all it's twist and turns!
