Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways.
An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford.
All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it—the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right.
As Davenport investigates, the trail leads to a political fixer who has disappeared, then—troublingly—to the Minneapolis police department itself, and most unsettling of all, to a woman who could give Machiavelli lessons in manipulation. She has very definite ideas about the way the world should work—along with the money, ruthlessness, and cold-blooded will to make it happen.
John Sandford brings us a winner
Book 23 of the Davenport series brings us to a modern political storyline that continues Sandford's efforts to bring grittier and harder-hitting stories to our bookshelves. With this book, you can see the author is about to bring transitions to the life of the great detective and also advance the career of Detective Flowers in future books. I think this book took me all of two days to cover and now I'm sitting here aching for the next one. I've been listening to his books in audio format, so now I'll get this one and listen to the story as well. There is a really good reader who has been reading this storyline and if he is the same in this book, then the audiobook is almost better than the hard copy.
Keeps gettting better...
I've been binge listening to the entire Davenport Prey series, and each new book is smoother than the last. Sandford writing just keeps tightening up and getting better. And I look forward to the parts in the book where a really good joke or comment gets made that just me laugh out loud. Looking forward to reading the Virgil Flowers series next... "That $%^& Flowers, man!"
