Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Riveting & Emotional!
S.J. Sylvis does it again and pens another winning novel set in her “Blue Devils Hockey” series, and once again, she puts her own unique spin on two popular tropes, the grumpy/sunshine and single dad/nanny tropes. This series’ second book centers on Rhodes Volkova, the team captain, who piqued my interest in the first book, his struggles with childcare and keeping nannies for his daughter Ellie. Sunny just got out of a terrible situation, and while she had no intentions of being a nanny again, she needed the work and her friend got her an interview for a job far from the place she does not want to be, Washington. Rhodes was looking for specific things when hiring his next nanny, jumped to the wrong conclusion after a brief meet with Sunny, and ruled her out. Soon after, when in a bind, he calls her out of desperation, and lucky for him, he catches her before leaving town. Very lucky because after giving her a chance, he learns how wrong he was about her. Sunny was amazing with Ellie and just who Ellie needed in her life, and who Rhodes needed. There is never a dull moment in this book and I loved all the layers of this story and how everything unfolded. This story enthralled me with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. S.J. Sylvis, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧Connor Crais and CJ Bloom were fantastic voicing these characters, delivering a perfect portrayal of each. I loved how naturally they fell into their roles, owning each one, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. With Crais not only aced Rhodes’ grumpy demeanor, but showcased his caring and protective side, as well as his possessiveness. Bloom was just as fabulous as Sunny, showcasing every aspect of her personality, her sunny demeanor, her patience with Ellie and Rhodes too. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. The pacing and tone were ideal for the story, and their performances brought each character’s emotions to life, making you feel them all. These two wonderful voice artists made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a captivating performance that keeps you glued to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
