According to author and “shintrovert” (shy introvert) Jessica Pan, sometimes doing what terrifies us is exactly what the doctor ordered. Pan was newly jobless and friendless when she vowed to spend a year stepping outside of her comfort zone: exchanging her homebody ways for parties, socializing, and even trying her hand at stand-up comedy. We loved following along on her incredible journey as she collects insights and advice from mentors like one of President Obama’s speechwriters. (Apparently, even the former president needs to rehearse!) Pan cheerfully narrates even her most embarrassing moments with candor and humor, making us always root for her. Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come shows that being vulnerable is the key to getting more out of life.
