Publisher Description

The #1 New York Times bestseller and a USAToday bestseller!
A timely, crucial, and empowering exploration of racism--and antiracism--in America

This is NOT a history book.
This is a book about the here and now.
A book to help us better understand why we are where we are.
A book about race.

The construct of race has always been used to gain and keep power, to create dynamics that separate and silence. This remarkable reimagining of Dr. Ibram X. Kendi's National Book Award-winning Stamped from the Beginning reveals the history of racist ideas in America, and inspires hope for an antiracist future. It takes you on a race journey from then to now, shows you why we feel how we feel, and why the poison of racism lingers. It also proves that while racist ideas have always been easy to fabricate and distribute, they can also be discredited.

Through a gripping, fast-paced, and energizing narrative written by beloved award-winner Jason Reynolds, this book shines a light on the many insidious forms of racist ideas--and on ways readers can identify and stamp out racist thoughts in their daily lives.

Fight the Power

I’ve listened to Stamped twice now. Once to preview and once with my 9 year old son. The history in this not-history book helped to explain our current situation and clearly defined what it means to be a racist, an assimilationist, and an anti-racist. The age range for this book starts at 13 but after previewing, I determined that the info was appropriate for my 9 year old (There are a few points where they refer to the hyper-sexualization of black men and women but that’s about it for “mature” content.) Reynolds narrates this in a style that captured my son... I thought he would like the modern-day references (comparing the WEB DuBois and Booker T Washington rivalry to Tupac and Biggie!) and I was right. Bravo to Mr. Kendi and Mr. Reynolds!

Best quote from book “Not a history book”

I was recommended this book from a community sponsored group through our child’s school. This book is proof CRT is embraced within our school community. I didn’t believe it until we experienced it. So sad.

Black Propaganda

This is a short sighted and ignorant view of racial opinion
