Caught off guard by how engaged I became with each story
Upon a recommendation, I listened to the audiobook and was pleasantly surprised. I have not read many short stories before and I was caught off guard by how engaged I became with each scifi story. I listened to them while working on a tedious and boring project for work, so it made the project much more enjoyable.
All of the stories are unique in regards to characters, worlds, plot, etc... The retelling of the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, with the scifi twist, was my favorite story. Though the Assasin world, reprogrammed aliens with wings, mental collective and all of the stories were equally great. I felt like I listened to a season of Dr. Who.
The narrator definitely added to the stories and was entertaining. My only complaint is that the short stories were so interesting that it left me wanting more when each ended.
