Publisher Description

America is in the thrall of a full-scale socioeconomic breakdown. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation destroys the value of the dollar, and the population, unprepared for hardship, panics. Practically overnight, the high-technology infrastructure and chains of supply collapse, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every city. Law enforcement, transportation, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies are all in the past now, as the country staggers beneath its own weight. Lawless bands of killers roam the countryside, leaving devastation in their wake and now that the government is gone, the Constitution is at stake. Who will carry on?

In this chaotic and dangerous environment, a few families and individuals, bound together by their faith, skills, and foresight, must struggle not only to survive day by day but defend themselves against a new and vicious predator - their fellow man.

Survivors is a shockingly realistic and lightening fast thriller about the coming implosion of America as we know it. Renowned survivalist expert James Wesley, Rawles has packed this story with the cold hard facts about how to stay alive in the face of mass riots, starvation, and anarchy. His expertise lends unforgettable, authentic detail to this season's most chilling novel. Listeners will not only be entralled, they will learn invaluable lessons on how to survive the coming collapse.

Better than what people say

I was extremely skeptical before purchasing this audio book due to some bad reviews but I was extremely happy after I did purchase it. I love books that try and show us what could happen in the future. I was extremely impressed with the amount of detail the author spent on a majority of the subjects he discussed. I imagine that he spent countless hours doing research before writing this book. This book will definitely make you think about the future!

This book deserves 4 stars!!

Not what I was hoping for

The author could have done so much more with this idea. Instead it was slow, with way too many boring details, way too much pushing of Christianity, and underlying promotion of Republican views. Also the author sounded like a robot sometimes. Disappointing overall. Could have been much better.

Non-Christians Might Want to Pass on This Novel

Had I realized the author was a hardcore Christian, I would have passed on this novel. The Catholics have a "personal relationship" with Jesus, and even the Jews are "Jews for Jesus" (which by any Jew's definition, means they are Christians, not Jews). The Christian piety and purity was a bit much.

While there was a plot, and the characters weren't entirely one-dimensional (except the whole Christian schtick), the author seemed more concerned on educating readers/listeners how to survive if the world falls apart than telling a story. Interesting, but I would have preferred a little more story and a little less education on Morse code, guns, gold or silver coin vs. paper money, refineries, planes, and so on. I'm guessing the author, besides being religious, is also a survivalist.

If I had been reading rather than listening, I would have stopped. But since I can multitask while listening, I continued on. Though I have to say, the narrator often sounded robotic or pompous.
