Publisher Description

The coauthors of the New York Times–bestselling Difficult Conversations take on the toughest topic of all: how we see ourselves

Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen have spent the past fifteen years working with corporations, nonprofits, governments, and families to determine what helps us learn and what gets in our way. In Thanks for the Feedback, they explain why receiving feedback is so crucial yet so challenging, offering a simple framework and powerful tools to help us take on life’s blizzard of offhand comments, annual evaluations, and unsolicited input with curiosity and grace. They blend the latest insights from neuroscience and psychology with practical, hard-headed advice. Thanks for the Feedback is destined to become a classic in the fields of leadership, organizational behavior, and education.

Clear, Simple, and Useful

Another review ironically says, “Someone should have given the authors honest feedback.” Yet, the review provides no feedback whatsoever. Maybe they didn’t read the book so much as look at it.

Our organization is using some of the tools from this book in implementing a full-time, continuous feedback system that is replacing the old, outmoded performance review system. In fact, one of the feedback software systems we’re evaluating uses some of the principles described in the book.

It’s easy to read (or listen to) and the concepts and tools the authors provide are very memorable. That is, you’ll be able to recall what you’ve learned in situ. Like many good books that provide personal or professional growth, the information is based on solid research and common sense.

I recommend this book to people when they come to me for communication coaching, especially when they ask for help with communicating feedback to coworkers.

@Chairty ,

Thanks for the Feedback

Don’t waste your money. Someone should have given the narrators honest feedback.
