Publisher Description
Writer, comedian, and content creator Elyse Myers gets real about life’s awkward moments in her bold, funny, and unfiltered debut book. Elyse brings her trademark style to the audiobook edition through her candid, conversational delivery—equal parts humor, vulnerability, and self-awareness. She shaped the pacing herself, occasionally layering in subtle sound effects that add texture and atmosphere to the listen. The result feels like she’s talking directly to her listeners, just as she does in her videos.
Elyse Myers is known to her twelve million followers as “The Internet’s Best Friend,” sharing her relatable stories and comedic sketches and serving as an advocate for topics such as neurodivergence, impostor syndrome, body image, and more. Whether she’s making people laugh with tales of disastrous dates or giving a voice to that awkward internal monologue many of us have, she has three simple goals behind everything she makes: To make people feel known, loved, and like they belong.
In That's a Great Question, I'd Love to Tell You, Elyse delivers a debut collection of deeply personal stories and hand-drawn illustrations, offering even more intimate reflections beyond what fans have seen on her social media, including:
Spending 7 Minutes in Heaven accidentally friend-zoning her crushHow Lucy, the Magic 8 Ball keychain, changed her life by accidentMoving from California to Australia to Texas to Nebraska to like (maybe even love!) herselfHow to Fold Hospital Corners in 10 EASY STEPS!—a practical guide and a rumination about…everythingThe “meat cute” when she met her smoke show of a husband at a butcher’s counter in Australia—and how she revealed herself to be an emotional runner
Plus, tales involving bad dates and is-this-a-dates; the tempting yet futile urge to reinvent yourself, panic attacks and escape hatches, and favorite pens and systems to use them, all while loving and letting yourself be loved, preferably at the same time.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Podcast and social media star Elyse Myers has a gift for turning life’s most awkward moments into something joyful, and this delightfully quirky audiobook proves it. This isn’t a traditional memoir at all. Instead, it’s a kaleidoscope of deeply personal stories, stitched together with humor, vulnerability, and her distinctively neurodivergent way of thinking out loud. Whether she’s talking about being showered with rose petals on a beach and yet still questioning whether this guy liked her or explaining how a Magic 8 Ball became her confidence coach, Myers finds humor in life’s chaos. She can also be beautifully unguarded, narrating what her anxiety attacks sound like in her head and even reading her own poetry. Elyse’s narration is embellished with playful sound effects that echo her words and other clever production details that make it sound even more immersive. This delightful listen is a heartfelt celebration of the strange, wonderful ways we move through the world.
Customer Reviews
Love her
I do not have Autism or ADHD. But I am guessing this is a great read for that genre. I’m so happy for her!
I had higher hopes
I really like Elyse Myers. I wish that she would’ve had more assistance from editors and possibly a co-writer. It would have been great to have life lessons included instead of stories put together. The heavy emphasis on describing everything in detail in repetition seemed to be unnecessary page fillers. I hope that she writes another book. I just hope that everyone else helping can guide her more.
no.
I couldn't finish. and I LOVE Elyse. got the audiobook version for that reason. but it's painful. and I GET IT. I get her. but man, it's not good.
