Publisher Description

It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.

The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined — every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute . . . and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.

Great book… interesting singing

Love this book so much but highly recommend skipping the awkward reading and listening to the movie soundtrack of the songs when you can!! One of my favorite books ever!!!

Fantastic story, frustrating narrator..

After the performance given by Tatiana Maslany in the special edition Hunger Games, I was really excited to pick up the prequel. I was frustratingly disappointed with this narrator. The story is excellent and I will probably try to just buy the book. But hopefully, someday, someone will re-record this audiobook and give it some life. Listening to this narrator had much the same emotion as listening to a math lecture. It was jarring after breezing through the first three books with Maslany’s engaging, diverse readings. It took twice as long as it should have to listen to because I had to keep rewinding after dozing off or daydreaming mid chapter. Looking forward to seeing the motion picture, I guess.. please find someone on Maslany’s level to breathe fresh air into this story. I would purchase it again with a different narrator.
