Publisher Description

Bob talks with folk singer Arlo Guthrie about the 40 year anniversary of "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," his epic 18 minute song detailing all sorts of real life indignities suffered by the draft-age Arlo in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Arlo only performs the song every ten years, saying that's how it stays fresh. He is currently on tour doing just that. Arlo will also talk about his career, his father, Woody, Huntington's disease, his four musical children, and possibly POLITICS! His new double CD, Live in Sydney, is available on his own label, Rising Son Records. (Broadcast Date: September 9, 2005)

Arlo Interivew on the Bob Edwards Show-2 Familair Voices

Here's an engaging hour of Arlo with the former NPR interviewer. Arlo is warm and charming, telling tale after tale, and explaining the famous, the obvious and the absurd, in his usual way. People who have seen him live will recognize some of the tales, but appreciate them as they are told to an audience of one, and newcomers will enjoy his wit, wisdom and great humor. No singing here (except for one little bit), but talk about the origins of "City of New Orleans," his legendary father, Woody, growing up, Huntington's Disease, Bob Dylan, The Magic Tree, his kids, his colleagues, his syrup (!), and much more. There seems to be 2 identical iTunes entries, listed for 2 different publishing dates. I assume it is the same interview, because the synopsis is the same. Anyone know? Great for hearing in the car on a long trip.
