A tidewater dog named Buck is stolen from his original owner and catapulted into an arena of bad men and dogs during the gold rush in northern Alaska. "Buck did not read the newspapers, or he would have known that trouble was brewing", and thus begins the start of hardship, mistreatment, and the will to survive.
