Publisher Description
This is one of Lovecraft's most beautifully written and frightening stories. It is written from the perspective of a surveyor, who, while surveying a rural area that is to be flooded near the town of Arkham, comes across a mysterious, abandoned farmstead, which is completely devoid of all life. At the center of the farmstead is an old well. The site fills him with an unnatural sense of dread, and, as it turns out, there is good reason for that feeling.
Customer Reviews
Better than the other narrator!
The narrator does the story justice, though he rushes through some of the dialog. On the whole, a good reading of a good Lovecraft tale.
The Price Says it All
This reading of “The Colour Out of Space” isn’t really all that bad … if you can get past Christopher Strong’s breathing. It’s a shame, as Mr. Strong has a perfect voice for Lovecraft, almost as suited as Wayne June. The problem I had, and it may just be me, came from the very audible breaths Mr. Strong takes between sentences. I found it to be very distracting and ended up buying another version. It can be heard, to a degree, in the preview but it becomes incredibly annoying when listening at length. Again, I could just be too picky, but it was a deal-breaker for me.
