Publisher Description
As a man surveys the countryside for the construction of a reservoir, he comes across a stretch of barren farmland leeched of life. An aged survivor of the town tells him the tale of a rural farmer's family and their path to madness and unspeakable horror.
Lovecraft considered "The Colour Out of Space" to be the best of all his stories. Originally appearing in the September 1927 issue of Amazing Stories, it is one of his most frequently anthologized tales.
Customer Reviews
Was This Narrated By STEPHEN HAWKING, or What?
Wow, is this bad... Listen to the preview before you buy it folks. Sounds like a book read by a speech synthesizer, devoid of passion and not familiar with the material past knowing how to pronounce the words. How do people make this stuff and not HEAR the obvious problems? This is an AUDIO book. Talk about distracting.
should be removed - insulting to Lovecraft's work
Narration sounds like it was down with some kind of automated reader. Audiobooks should give the written work something new and interesting - not so with this version of Colour. Listening to the whole thing, however, might drive you insane in the same way as some Lovecraft protagonists...
Horrible narration
Narration sounds horrible. Wonder at times if it is an actual person. completely monotone and devoid of any inflection. Every syllable is the same drawn out duration, with no accents on any syllables. Not even worth the $7.95
