The Complete Smiley
I loved this series…yes I know Alec Guinness gave a great take as did Gary Oldham, but for me Simon Russell Beale is just so Smiley- loved Tinker Tailor the best. Ann is given her due- Although she exists as only as a voice in George’s mind, Ann is his sounding board, his conscience, his cross to bear, the love of his life. Control is a delight, and Percy Adelaide just seethes with resentment and contempt. In fact there are quite a few great performances in this collection.
