Publisher Description

From USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Hefner

The sizzling prequel to the Etherya’s Earth paranormal romance saga

Before the end of hatred, there was the dawn of peace…

Two immortals from warring species save each other’s lives as the conflict rages on.

Alrec, the hulking Vampyre warrior, spares her first.

Years later, Kilani, the fierce, uncompromising Slayer, returns the favor.

Stuck in her remote cabin, their bond grows as Kilani warily nurses her injured Vampyre, determined to deny her growing desire for the man with deep, knowing eyes and mesmerizing fangs.

And, of course, there’s only one bed…

This novella is brought to you by an author who adores her readers and always wanted to write a prequel for the series that launched her career. Written for both current and new readers, this steamy, heartfelt story has brand-new characters and a HEA.

For the Love of Vampires

This was a fun story and I really liked the world building with vampires and slayers fighting against each other. The author created an interesting well developed world with the FMC wanting to be a warrior, but the really fun and not backwards at all (please read that with sarcasm) rules disallow her from fulfilling her dreams. So she leaves. She just checks out of the highborn life she had and lives in a cabin, where she won't be forced to marry anyone or be stuck not doing what she loves. Cue an injured vampire floating along, and she might just change her views. She takes said vamp back to her cabin and there's only one bed...
It's an entertaining story, told in dual 3rd person POV. There's steam and some violence. This is part of a larger series and can be enjoyed as a standalone.

The narrator did a good job with the voices. He sounded clear and differentiated everyone's voices well. He's a new to me author and I'd listen to another story narrated by him.

Good introduction to the world, but the novella does feel a little rushed. Not the biggest fan of the male narrator his voice is kind of echoey. Reads a little like fanfic. The smut is a bit funny to hear. The wording isn’t quite what I’m used to “her deepest place” always makes me laugh. Jumps from “oh goddess” to “oh god” a lot which doesn’t make sense to me usually it’s either one or the other. All in all this wasn’t to bad! It made me laugh, it made me go awwww good intro to this series I think. I received an advance review copy of the audiobook for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
